In a bizarre incident in Fairfax, Virginia, a man dressed as Spider-Man allegedly broke into a local gaming store and made off with approximately $10,000 worth of collectible trading cards.

The burglary took place at Gaming Giant on University Drive late on a Friday night after the shop had closed. According to reports, the intruder smashed through the front door while wearing a hooded Spider-Man costume, targeting high-value items like Pokémon, Dragon Ball, and One Piece cards.
The store’s management expressed their dismay on social media, noting that the thief seemed to know exactly what to grab, including sealed products and graded card slabs.
Surveillance images of the suspect were shared publicly, which helped authorities receive tips from the community. Fairfax County police later identified the perpetrator as 20-year-old Joel Brown.
It’s believed Brown had visited the store earlier, possibly scoping it out by asking about specific cards before returning to commit the crime under the cover of his superhero disguise.
Following the investigation, Brown was apprehended on March 19 and charged with burglary. The store owner told local media that the ordeal left him feeling shaken and violated, emphasizing the significant loss to his business.
This unusual heist adds a twist to the growing trend of trading card thefts, with the suspect’s choice of costume making it a particularly striking case.
