In an interview with Business Insider, Critical Role‘s CEO, Travis Willingham, disclosed that his team is actively working on a video game, marking a new venture for the company.

Though he declined to share the title of the project with Business Insider, he teased that an official announcement was forthcoming.

How forthcoming? Well, he said “any day,” and it just so happens today is the 10th anniversary of the show and tomorrow they’re doing a special campaign three recap with all of the cast on Thursday.

We’re expecting some things to be shared during that live show — yes live. Whether it will be the video game, well, we’ll just have to wait and see.

Willingham temporarily dubbed this gaming project the “interactive slate,” according to the article.

What is the Critical Role game going to be about?

He noted that it will expand the universe of Exandria, originally conceived over a decade ago by Matthew Mercer, CR’s long-standing game master and chief creative officer.

When it comes to details about what the game will be like, Willingham said players will “actually be getting their hand on the stick and controlling the outcome of the story, changing what might be possible from not just some of their favorite characters, but new offerings in the world of Exandria.”

Hey, I’m Steven, the one-man team behind NerdCore.

This site wasn’t built by a company, a corporation, or a team of editors—it’s just me, a guy who loves video games, tabletop RPGs, Magic: The Gathering, comics, and all things nerd culture.

After being laid off from my job, I had two choices:

  1. Try to find another 9-to-5 job that might not align with my interests.
  2. Take a leap of faith and turn my passion into something real.

I chose the second option.

If you love nerd culture, you’re part of this too. Whether you’re rolling dice, shuffling decks, grinding ranked matches, or flipping through comic pages, this space is for you.
