The rumor mills are working hard as the word of a 6th Dungeons and Dragons Edition is in the works.
Not only that, but the rumors are claiming a release date for DnD 6e that isn’t as far off as you may think!

Dungeons & Dragons 6th Edition rumors are circulating
I first came across the rumors in a video from a channel called Tenkar’s Tavern. In the video, the host makes the claim that some sources have told him something is in the works for D&D.
He also points out images that have been spotted online featuring Luke Gygax, son of Gary Gygax, playing 1st Edition DnD with Wizards of the Coasts executives.
For those of you not in the know, Gary Gygax is widely considered the creator of Dungeons & Dragons and Wizards of the Coast is the segment of Hasbro that runs the D&D brand. So the folks in charge of the DnD brand, playing the original 1e with the son of the creator.
The rumor is that DnD is looking to bring back 1st and 2nd Edition qualities to DnD with a 5e mask — or something like that.

DnD 6e release date speculation
As of right now, these are truly just rumors with basically no paper trail to follow. Tenkar’s Tavern claims, however, that they’re currently looking at a 2027 release date.
You read that right, 2027. Only around three years after the first two of the core books of the 2024 revision to 5th Edition released.
That may seem to quick at first glance, but when you remember that there was only a three year gap between 3rd Edition and 3.5, and then only five years after that we had 4th Edition and another similar timeframe later we had 5th Edition in 2014; suddenly it’s not so crazy.
Either way, right now it’s just one guy who says he’s heard from other people saying things and speculating on some images. We’re intrigued though.
What do you think? Is DnD 6e on the horizon?
