Ultron, the iconic Marvel villain, is set to join Marvel Rivals, adding a fresh twist to the game’s roster.

Known from Avengers: Age of Ultron, where James Spader voiced him, Ultron was Tony Stark’s creation gone rogue, plotting to wipe out humanity by turning Sokovia into a giant projectile.

In Marvel Rivals, he takes a surprising turn from his destructive past. Developers have confirmed Ultron will arrive mid-Season 2, after Emma Frost’s debut, with the Season 2.5 update expected around May 2025 based on Season 1’s pacing—though no exact date is set.

Marvel Rivals Ultron role

Unlike his usual role as a relentless destroyer, Ultron will be a Strategist, focusing on team support rather than pure offense.

Leaks from ‘RivalsLeaks’ suggest he combines healing with a strong primary weapon, earning a two-star difficulty rating out of five, making him accessible to many players.

Marvel Rivals Ultron abilities

His kit highlights versatility. The Encephalo-Ray serves as his primary attack, delivering consistent damage, while his abilities rely on drones for support.

Imperative: Patch sends a large drone to follow an ally, healing them and nearby teammates, with bonus recovery for the targeted hero.

Imperative: Firewall calls drones to boost allies’ health within a radius around Ultron and the Patch-marked teammate. His ultimate, Rage of Ultron, summons drones that either heal allies or harm enemies, adapting to the moment.

For mobility, Dynamic Flight offers a directional dash followed by free-flight mode, and Algorithm Correction enables a slow descent when holding jump—marking him as the first flying Strategist in the game.

This mix makes Ultron a flexible healer who can sustain his team from afar, untethered to allies. His flight and ranged support could make him a top pick for players seeking adaptability, potentially outshining other Strategists.
