Darrington Press, the tabletop games publisher from the Critical Role team, has announced that Daggerheart will hit local game stores on May 20.
A broader launch in bookstores and other retailers will follow on June 3.

According to the official site,”Daggerheart is a fantasy tabletop roleplaying game of brave heroics and vibrant worlds that are built together with your gaming group. Create a shared story with your adventuring party, and shape your world through rich, long-term campaign play.”
Daggerheart’s central mechanic is the Duality Dice system, which uses two 12-sided dice—a “Hope” die and a “Fear” die.
During checks, players roll both and add them together, with the higher result introducing a narrative twist (good or bad) that affects events in and out of combat. Characters are further defined by sheets that feature overlays and cards for tracking abilities.
Another unique aspect of Daggerheart it the offering of “campaign frames” that introduce distinct worlds and tailored rules. Six frames will be included in the core rulebook for players to choose from.
If you want to check out some more Daggerheart before it launches, the company revealed they’ll be running games at various conventions this year including GAMA Expo, Gen Con, UK Games Expo, PAX Unplugged, and more.
